Our Most Common Repairs

Long Island Blind Repair can fix your broken blinds on-site. Heres a short list of some of our common repairs:

  • Cord restringing– Most cord restringing is caused by either old worn cords that are frayed over time and eventually break when you pull on them. Another cause could be that the cord is rubbing against a piece of metal or sharp plastic in the headrail. A faulty cord lock could also make the cord snap.
  • Blind slats won’t tilt/turn– Most of the time the horizontal slats that won’t tilt are because the internal tilter mechanism that is inside the headrail is malfunctioning. A replacement tilter mechanism, whether it’s a wand tilter or cord tilter, usually fixed the problem. One of the other causes of slats that won’t tilt is a broken barrel or drum. These barrels, also located inside of the headrail, hold the ladder string and rotate when the tilter mechanism is used.
  • Blinds that won’t raise or lower–   When a blind is stuck and when you pull on the lift cord it doesn’t move, the cause is usually a broken cord lock. Cord locks are inside of the headrail and once replaced can make your blinds lift and lower like they are new again.

Those are just a few of the most common repairs we handle. We can repair almost any brand/manufacturer of blind/shade in your home or business typically within an hour. We come to your home with our mobile workshop and most of the time fix the blind right on our truck. Occasionally we come across a blind or shade that we need to place a special order for, but when that happens, we usually have the part delivered to us within a few days and have the blind back on your window in no time.
